Hi there! Long time no see.

I’m sorry I’ve been out of touch for so long. I’ve had some health issues and some family issues. Also, my life has been a strange one in a lot of ways but even by my standards 2020 has been weird.

First of all, I’d like to answer some questions I’ve been getting about Wren and Death. As many of you probably know, Midnight Ink, my lovely publisher, was closed by its parent company. This put a lot of series, including mine, in limbo.

I’m currently working on book 5. The working title is Death and His Lady Fair and I’m sending Death undercover at a Renaissance faire. There will be a kilt at some point.

Once that manuscript is ready my agent is going to look for a new home for the series. At that time she’s also going to see about audio books for *both* the new book and Viking’s Daughter. I don’t know exactly when/ where/ how this is all going to shake out but I am working on making it happen.

In the meantime a project I’ve been working on for years is finally coming to fruition and I’m so excited to share it with you.

Back in 2015 I came up with an idea for a book. I *believe* the impetus was someone on Twitter sharing the familiar advice “never start a book with your main character waking up” and I thought, “but what if she wakes up in a cave?”

The book went through several iterations and took a left turn that surprised even me, metamorphosizing into a finished manuscript that was nothing like my original idea but one that feels infinitely right to me.

It’s time to find out if the rest of the world agrees.

The book is Julia’s Heart and it’s coming out October 10th. On Friday I’m going to be revealing the cover and I’ll be posting about it leading up to that. For reviewers, it’s going up on NetGalley this week, I believe. I’ll have some ARCs to give away, and sneak peeks, and I’ll tell you about the weird instances of synchronicity that have been happening with it since I began writing it.

In the meantime I leave you with a small teaser. This is the back of the book:

  1. OOOOOOHHHH! Book 5? I can’t wait for that! (And not just the kilt ❤️)

As for Julia’s Heart, that one sounds a little creepier, but it’s the kind of creepy that’s tempting, not freaky! ?

  2. I’ve just listened to the first three Auction Block Mysteries for the umpteenth time and I love them just as much as the first time I heard them! Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’re read by my favorite narrator. I’m so glad to see the series continuing. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a rocky 2020, but wanted you to know that you have a big fan who hangs on your every word!

  3. I’ve just found your books this week thru Audible…and devoured them! It’s how I landed here typing out this comment, as I came looking for information about an audiobook for the 4th story. I am glad to see that Death and Wren will be carrying on, I love them!
